I didn’t even hear of pass phrases till 15-16.
I used to copy my wallet.dat over and encrypt it, but, sorry for your loss.

To everyone else: it’s time to check our seed phrase. Once a year, once every six months, whatever. Make sure the seed and passphrase and XOR and your decoy and nursery rhyme and Charles Dickens and whatever clever fragmenting scheme you come up with, actually DO get you back your precious wallet.
